WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN ETG AND ETOH (URINE)?
Both ETG (Ethyl Glucuronide) and ETOH (ethanol) are used to detect the presence of alcohol. However, ETOH has a relatively short window of detection compared to ETG. ETG is the direct biomarker of ETOH and is only produced when alcohol is in the bloodstream. The more alcohol a person consumes, the greater amount of ETG biomarkers present in body fluids, even hair. ETG also has a longer window of detection than ETOH.
WHAT IS THE WINDOW OF DETECTION FOR INSTANT ETG URINE?
Like many drug tests, different variables may affect the window of detection. However, the instant urine ETG can detect from 2 hours after consumption and up to 80 hours after consumption.
SHOULD I GET A CONFIRMATION TEST IF THERE IS A POSITIVE RESULT?
ETG is a highly useful test in detecting recent alcohol consumption. However, to avoid any false positives that may occur with drug screens, it is recommended that any positive result is followed up with a confirmatory test from a certified laboratory.
IF I HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT MY TESTS RESULTS WHO SHOULD I CONTACT?
We recommend you share your results with your physician.
WHAT IF MY RAPID DRUG SCREEN IS PRESUMPTIVELY POSITIVE FOR A DRUG CLASS?
If necessary, specimens that are presumptively positive on a rapid drug screen can be sent to a toxicology laboratory for confirmation of the positive drug class(es). Note that an additional charge for each individual confirmation test that is requested will apply. Contact your local Any Lab Test Now location for the additional cost.
